"Tires for Classics & Rods"
Written by Keith Fudge

When it comes to great looks and outstanding performance, you know that the wheels and tires that you select for your classic car can make all the difference.  And, if you are looking to restore a vehicle to stock appearance, then there is one place to turn:  Coker Tire!  In this segment of Eastwood’s Garage, Dennis is joined by Corky Coker who has brought along some of the latest tires available for classic cars and trucks.

Corky began by saying just how much that everyone at Coker Tires appreciates the fine customers that they have.  He then tells Dennis that Coker Tires is a family business that was started in 1958 by Corky’s father, Harold Coker.  Since then they have been supplying rare and obsolete tires for a variety of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even tractors dating from the 1890s up through the 1980s!  In fact, as Corky says, “We have tires for virtually everything!”  And, just to prove his point, Corky began to show Dennis a few examples of the types of tires that they carry!

With muscle cars achieving unparalleled popularity among collectors, the quest for OEM tires has been fairly elusive, but not any longer.  Corky begins by showing Dennis a new B.F. Goodrich T/A Radial complete with a redline stripe just like those factory tires offered on musclecars in the 1960s!  Next, Corky points out an Excelsior Comp V Vintage Racing Tire.  These tires are speed-rated to 155 miles per hour!  The next tire at hand is a Firestone Deluxe Champ!  Constructed from original molds, this tire features wide whitewalls to make that classic roadster or sedan stand out in the crowd!  If you have a nostalgic hot rod from the 40s, 50s, or 60s then you’ll be interested in the 16-inch wide whitewall radials now available from Coker!  These bad boys give the best in looks and performance!  Finally, a classic:  DOT approved Cheater Slicks that are available with whitewalls or in classic blackwall design.

So there you have it!  Classic tires for your classic car!  And if you give them a call they will help you to determine just what you need to make your classic look and drive as good as new!  If you would like to learn more about the wheels and tires available from Coker Tire you can give them a visit on the web at www.coker.com.

By the way, don’t forget when you are looking for unique automotive tools and supplies for your automobile restoration, you should give the folks at Eastwood a visit at www.eastwood.com.
