| Today in Eastwood Garage, Sean Hughes from Classic Industries joins Dennis, and he is ready to show us the latest in console kits for vintage GM Camaros and Firebirds!
Right up front, both Sean and Dennis are emphatic that these aren’t just any reproduction parts, but that they are OER licensed GM restoration parts. This means that they are identical to the originals! In other words, not only will every part look like it came right off the showroom floor, but it will fit like it was meant to fit with no extra cutting or drilling! First, Sean shows Dennis a complete console for a 1973-1981 Camaro. This console is equipped with everything needed to make it look new including shift plate, inserts, mounting hardware, and even the ashtray! Now, you can buy all of these parts together in a kit for most models, or you can purchase any individual pieces that you might need as well. Next, Sean points out two other pieces that he has brought: consoles for 1970-1972 Camaros with either an automatic or manual transmission. Soon, the talk turns to first generation Camaros and Sean reveals consoles for both 1968 and 1969 Camaros including all the accessories available such as wood grained inserts, bowtie emblems, and rally pack gauges! Finally, Sean points out that the folks with Firebirds or Trans Ams are not forgotten as he reveals consoles to fit 1970 through 1979 Firebirds.
At this time, Dennis makes a great point in that if you are going to replace your console, and yet your original shifter looks less than perfect, why not make it right the first time and replace that shifter as well. Sean begins to smile as he shows Dennis some of the OER shifters that he has brought with him as well including Muncie shifters for 1967 and 1968 Camaros and the famous Horseshoe automatic shifters for automatics! Also, as mentioned previously, Classic Industries carries just about anything you might need in the way of console parts and accessories. For instance, if you only need a rally pack gauge setup for your 1967 Camaro, they’ve got it. Chrome shifter inserts? Not a problem. They also have the correct wiring harness for the rally pack gauges too. In addition, they stock neutral safety switches and backup light switches that are required for Horseshoe shifters. Oh yeah, they even have just the ashtray if that is all you need! Sean also reminds Dennis that soon they will have console replacements for 1967 Camaros and for 1967 through 1969 Firebirds. So, if you are looking for parts or accessories for your original shifter or console, or if you would like to replace the whole thing at once, or at a piece at a time, then Classic Industries has all the equipment that you need.
