Episode #11009
"Reproduction Weatherstripping"
Written by Keith Fudge

In this episode of Eastwood Garage, Sean Hughes of Classic Industries joins Dennis to talk about weather stripping for vintage GM vehicles.  As the conversation begins, Sean reminds Dennis that Classic Industries has GM licensed reproduction parts for a host of GM cars such as Camaro, Firebird, Nova, Impala, and Chevy Trucks, but today the talk is all about weather stripping and other rubber parts for classic Camaros.

Concerning rubber parts and gaskets, it is a rule of thumb that anything that opens and closes goes bad in time.  Also, weather and the elements take their toll on rubber parts such as seals and stoppers.  If you are putting a classic GM car back on the road, never fear because Classic Industries has the parts that you need.  Sean begins by showing Dennis the gaskets and seals that go between the light bezels and the car body on vintage Camaros.  These seals are available for both headlights and taillights as well.  Next, Sean shows Dennis some new weather stripping made from latex that is even better than an original part made from rubber.  Sean says that latex is much more pliable than rubber and will last even longer.  In addition, proper fit is never an issue because parts from Classic Industries are constructed from the original GM molds or exact copies of the original molds!  Next, Sean shows Dennis some door-frame weather stripping that comes complete with the required pins.  In addition, this part is reinforced with metal to allow the stripping to conform to any shape.  You’ll also be interested to know that Classic Industries has those tough-to-find convertible header seals with the front pillar sections.  These pieces are also reinforced with metal to ensure a proper fit.

Now, if weather stripping, gaskets, and seals are only a part of the problem, Classic Industries also has everything that you need in the way of rubber stoppers for your classic car.  This includes stoppers for the hood, trunk, doors, and even for the glove box and ashtray!  Sean mentioned that you can buy these stoppers in kits if you want to replace all the rubber stoppers in your classic, or they can be purchased individually if you just need one or two pieces to get the job done!  If you have one of those popular T-top roof options from back in the day, Classic Industries also has the complete T-top weather stripping kits for second, third, and even fourth generation Camaros and Firebirds!  So, there you have it!  Classic Industries is your source for rubber replacement parts that keep the good stuff in your car and the bad stuff out!  If you would like to learn more about the parts and accessories available from Classic Industries, give them a call at 888-GM-CATALOG or you can find them on the web at www.classicindustries.com.  By the way, don’t forget when you are looking for unique automotive tools and supplies for your automobile restoration, you should give the folks at Eastwood a visit at www.eastwood.com
