Episode #10026
"Grille & Rocker Moldings"
Written by Keith Fudge

Today in Eastwood Garage, Keith Maney from Year One joins Dennis to talk about replacement grille and rocker panels for some “not so usual” GM muscle cars.  As the segment begins, we find Dennis and Keith standing in front of one of the most underrated, and now most desirable, muscle cars that was ever produced: a 1970 Buick GSX!  Only 678 of these beasts of the streets were ever made.  For those attempting to restore one to its past glory, it has been quite a challenge.  In fact, it has been really difficult to try to find restoration parts for these legendary performance cars.  As Dennis points out, there is good news on the horizon for many of these unusual muscle cars and their owners.  Thanks to a boom in the muscle car hobby, the after-market parts industry has come alive and is now producing a host of products for those cars that were not produced in mass quantities such as Camaros, Mustangs, and Corvettes.

At Year One, they now offer a wealth of reproduction parts for these rare muscle cars, just like the GSX seen here.  They have stencil kits for the decals, interior parts such as upholstery and trim, front and rear spoilers, and even the rear wing that came standard on the car.  They also have reproduction grilles and the original rocker panels with red stripes on them.  Now, the great news about Year One, reproduction parts such as these cost less.  They are probably made better than the original parts.  In addition, these parts offer enthusiasts the chance to clone their favorite cars.  Just find a 1970 Skylark, and with the right parts and a little work, you can have a cloned GSX.  Year One also stocks a complete selection of the correct emblems that will make your GSX easy to spot.  In fact, they have been making parts for Buicks since 1980 and have a variety of reproduction parts for 18 different lines of cars.  According to Keith, his job is more fun than ever.  At Year One, they make the parts that keep these cars on the road.

If you would like more information on the parts available from Year One, or if you would like to order a catalog for your specific car, give them a call at-1-800-YEAR-ONE.  You can also visit them on the web at www.yearone.com.  By the way, don’t forget when you are looking for unique automotive tools and supplies for your automobile restoration, you should give the folks at Eastwood a visit at www.eastwood.com.
