Episode #10021
"Dash Protection"
Written by Keith Fudge

Today in Eastwood Garage it’s all about Corvettes, particularly helping to improve the looks of that cracked or faded dash.  Joining Dennis Gage today is Mike Yager from Mid America Motorworks, a Corvette parts replacement specialist for more than 30 years!

Positioned near them is a 1978 25th Anniversary Corvette.  Now this car has been a daily driver and has some of the problems that are found from nearly three decades of exposure to the sun and daily wear and tear.  The dash is cracked and faded, and it would cost a pretty penny to replace.  However, Mike and the folks from Mid America Motorworks have just the cure at a fraction of the cost.  Mike shows Dennis a molded dash cover that functions as an overlay on the existing dash.  The overlay comes in black, but Mid America has the factory correct Corvette interior color paint to make your Vette look as if it just rolled off the showroom floor!  Mike went on to tell Dennis that Mid America also offers these dash caps for 68-77 Corvettes in the same paint-to-match finish, and the factory correct interior colors are available to give your Vette that brand new look.

Dennis went on to ask about other replacement parts that suffer abuse from the elements and everyday wear and tear.  Mike responded that a part that almost always needs replacing after several years is the armrest.  Mid America Motorworks has the complete replacement parts including the screw kits needed for installation.  Also, if you want to make your Vette a bit more luxurious, they have T-Cushion armrest pads that fit on the console of your Vette.  They also have custom cup holders that slide right onto the emergency brake handle!  So, if you want to restore that cracked or faded dash, or if you need to replace the armrests, or if you just want to update your Corvette’s interior, turn to the folks at Mid America Motorworks.  They have Corvette parts for 1953 to the present, and they also stock a variety of parts for Porsche and Volkswagen.  You can give them a call at 800-500-1500, or you can find them on the web at www.mamotorworks.com.  By the way, don’t forget when you are looking for unique automotive tools and supplies for your automobile restoration, you should give the folks at Eastwood a visit at www.eastwood.com.
