"Steering Wheels for GM cars"
Written by Keith Fudge

Today, in Eastwood Garage , Dennis is joined by his good pal Ashley Sangster from Classic Industries. He is going to tell us all we need to know about replacement steering wheels for a variety of GM cars.

To begin, everyone knows that after a car has been subjected to extreme changes in temperature for many years, one of the things that is bound to happen to stock plastic steering wheels is that they will crack and break. Dennis goes on to say that while these types of problems can be corrected by filling, sanding, and repainting or re-staining the crack or the break, often is the case that the repair won't be an exact match. Well, the folks from Classic Industries have taken all the repair frustration and the guesswork out of that process by manufacturing factory correct replacement steering wheels for a variety of Chevrolet cars. As luck would have it, Ashley Sangster brought along some examples of these replacement parts.

First, Ashley showed us a factory-correct Rosewood steering wheel for a 1969 Chevy. Next, he showed us a variety of wheels for 67-70 Camaros, Chevelles, and Novas, including Walnut and Rosewood wheels. Ashley also said that Classic Industries stocks the correct steering wheel inserts for the appropriate option packages on the cars including those that are RS and SS versions. In addition, Classic Industries offers the correct inserts for whatever interior level that you are trying to achieve for your classic car, from the standard interior to the deluxe trim option depending on whether you are restoring the car back to factory specs or if you are choosing to clone a particular vehicle.

You'll also need to know that they have more steering wheels for the models previously mentioned as Ashley reached for a two-toned blue steering wheel for a 1965 Impala. He said that this wheel would soon be available in a red two-toned version in the near future. At that point, Dennis asked about parts for steering wheels, and Ashley began to show him an assortment of horn caps and center caps for a variety of Chevrolet cars. Ashley noted that Classic Industries also stocks the factory correct horn contact points as well. When we say “factory correct,” that's just what we mean. All of these parts are GM licensed and made from the factory correct tooling. So, if you need a wheel of the steering kind for your classic Chevy, turn to the folks at Classic Industries. Don't forget, they also have parts for existing steering wheels as well. You can visit them on the web at www.classicindustries.com , or you can give them a call at 1-800-854-1280.
