"Corvette Seat Replacements"
Written by Keith Fudge

One of the most popular cars to collect and restore is the Chevrolet Corvette. With its fabled and legendary history, the Corvette has become an American automotive icon in terms of style and performance. Many owners who have purchased brand new Corvettes have never let them go, and some buy pre-owned models hoping to return them to showroom status. In either case, after years of being on the road, the seats and seat covers usually require some attention. In this segment of Eastwood Garage , Dennis talks to Mike Yager of Mid America Motorworks about how to breathe new life into those tired old Corvette seats.

As Dennis asks Mike about replacing and or updating the seats on a Corvette, Mike tells him that the first thing that owners need to consider is replacing the seat foam and not just the seat covers. Corvette seat foam from Mid America Motorworks is made from molds that are identical to the original equipment molds used by General Motors. They are covered on the seat bottoms with a layer of burlap that increases foam stability. Replacing the foam is also important because worn out foam causes wear on the seat covers as well. Speaking of seat covers, Mid America Motorworks uses only the finest top quality vinyl and top grades of leather. Covers are cut or stretched by hand and are matched to original factory specifications. In addition, don't worry about the pattern or fit. Just like the foam, they are made to OEM specifications as well! Mike also mentioned something new at Mid America Motorworks for Corvettes made from 1978 to the present. They now have updated seat cover colors that will allow a bit of customization on the part of the owner. However, don't worry if you want that factory appearance. Mid America Motorworks still stocks all the original colors in case you want your Vette to look like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

Dennis went on to ask about the difficulty involved in the installation of the foam and covers. Mike responded that it was something that anyone can do easily if they have the proper tools. In fact, Mike said that installation on Corvettes made from 1979 to the present can take as little as fifteen minutes to complete! That's cool enough for us because that means less “down time” and more “go to town” time behind the wheel of America 's favorite sportscar! Mike also added that Mid America now has a line of protective seat covers as well that simply slip on and off the seats of your Corvette to keep them looking as good as new. Sounds like a winning combination to us! Oh, by the way, Mid America Motorworks has more parts for Corvettes than just seats. In fact, they have more than 47,000 products for Corvettes alone! So, if you are looking for something for your Corvette, chances are the folks at Mid America Motorworks have just what you need! They also carry parts for air-cooled Volkswagens, and they stock a large line of parts for Porsche automobiles as well!
