Episode #8004
"Replacing Interiors"
Written by Keith Fudge

Chevelle, Malibu, SS: these models excite both the enthusiast and the collector. In this segment of Hemming’s Garage, Sam and Dennis give us a look at the types of interior restoration and replacement parts for Chevelles that are available from National Parts Depot.

As the segment begins, Sam and Dennis are sitting in front of a 1970 Chevelle SS clone. As the camera pans the interior, we can see that the dash in this car is a Chevelle dash (different from an SS dash), and we also see that the seats and upholstery are not factory original. Now, assembled in front of Dennis and Sam are all the interior parts to restore this car to a factory correct SS interior including replacement door panels, a center console and shifter, seats and seat covers, a dash and dash pad, replacement armrests, and a headliner. Sam notes that one of the great things that National Parts Depot does for its customers is that they take all the stress out of buying! You can simply order the complete kit and everything that you need is included, or if you just need to order one or two specific items then you can order those separately as well.

As we look closely at some of the individual parts, perhaps what stands out most is the meticulous attention to detail and the quality that National Parts Depot provides. Certain features such as the correct patterns, padding, and stitching, and the durable materials used in each piece will ensure that your Chevelle will be looking right and lasting a long time whether it stays in the garage, or if it is frying tires on the asphalt.

Next, Sam and Dennis offer some tips concerning the interior restoration process itself! First of all, Sam stresses that when replacing vinyl materials, do it in a heated garage or in warm temperature. The materials are more pliable and easier to work with. Next, when replacing a Chevelle headliner, take the bows out and number them from front to rear and re-installing the headliner will be easier and the fit will be proper. Finally, if you are willing to do the effort yourself, in most cases you can save up to 50% of the cost—and that means that you can buy even more groovy replacement parts from National Parts Depot to make your Chevelle the King of the Street!

National Parts Depot also stocks parts for more than Chevelles. In fact, in addition to restoration and replacement parts for 1964-1987 Chevelle, Malibu, and El Camino, they also carry parts for 1967-1981 Camaro and Firebird, and 1965-1973 Mustang! They also pride themselves in having everything that they carry in stock at all times. There are even four distribution centers nationwide and that means that after you place your order that you will receive your parts even sooner. No matter what you need, chances are that National Parts Depot will have it! You can also order a free catalog by giving them a look on the web at www.nationalpartsdepot.com.
