Mustang
/ Boss Expert
If you're a Ford fan, and in particular a Mustang
enthusiast, you have a long way to go to prove it. Bob Perkins, Perkins
Restorations, Town of Clyman, WI, has a collection of twelve first generation
Mustangs, many which sport their original stickers. Spanning the years
from 1965 to 1973, they are all originals down to the smallest of details.
There's no hesitation when asked if he has a
favorite. With 1,500 original miles, (no that is not a typo!) it's his
1970 302 Boss, yellow with black striping. It has won in all major Mustang
shows nationwide.
Perkins has been restoring, almost exclusively
Mustangs, since 1980 and his work has earned him an impressive reputation.
Bill Elliott's brother, Dan, won the Mustang's Club of America Best of
Show Award with his Boss 351 after Bob's restoration work. Dick Bridges
of South Carolina, who in Perkins opinion has the best muscle car collection
in the country, and Jackie Jones of Young Harris, Georgia with his large
Mustang collection, have also contracted Perkins.
Along with his own 'Stangs, Perkins Showroom
sports memorabilia that would put the Ford Motor Company archives to shame.
His showroom draws clubs from east to west coast and he welcomes visits
from anyone wishing to browse. Appointments are a must. Perkins specializes
in NOS Mustang parts as well. Call Perkins Restoration at 920-696-3788,
and tell him My Classic Car sent you!
