Caravan... It's a Genuine Happening!
Some events go past simply being a car show
and turn into a genuine “happening.” The annual Corvette Caravan
to the National Corvette Museum falls into that category. The concept
is pure; if it’s got anything to do with Corvettes it will be there
on Labor Day Weekend. That includes drag racing at Beach Bend Park in
Bowling Green, Kentucky, autocross events on the museum grounds along
with a giant car show. Vendors of everything Corvette, from clothing to
hard to find parts are on hand. Looking to buy a Corvette? This is the
place for you. Hoping to sell your Corvette? This is the perfect place.
Now add tours of the factory, seminars on restoration and improved performance
and just a giant gathering of Corvette lovers and you can see this is
Mecca for the Corvette aficionado.
The actual Corvette Caravan involves Corvettes
from 1953 to 2000 motoring into the Bowling Green facility from all across
the country. The interstates are filled with Vettes, the local roads,
restaurants and motels are filled to overflowing with the fiberglass cars
too. Everywhere you look, everything you see and most of what you hear
involves Corvettes for the whole weekend. Sounds like fun don’t
you think?
If you like Corvettes plan on attending next year; it’s
a great show with lots of activities. You can get an even better feel
for the event by catching this weeks episode of My Classic Car TV Show,
Dennis will be touring the event and the museum, check it out!
Next years event will again be held on Labor Day weekend
and you can contact the National Corvette Museum for more information
on attending the event at their web site http://www.corvettemuseum.com.
