Rodger Martin's
1971 Buick GSX
" I have attached a few pics of my Dads 1971 Buick GSX 455 that he ordered in Fall 1970 and took delivery Feb. of 1971. It has the standard 315hp 455 with the TH400 auto trans and 3.42's in the rear. Except for the black stripes on the hood the paint is original. Something from the car that was above it on the car hauler leaked down and stained the hood when it was delivered to the dealership. Except for the fuel pump, water pump, oil pump timing chain and timing cover the engine and drivetrain are all original. Everything that was attached to the front cover was replaced when it began leaking about 8 years ago with all NOS parts bought at the GS Nationals. I also had jet-coated shorty headers installed after the factory manifold cracked also. The exhaust is a mandrel-bent 3" stock replacement system. The orignal Q jet has been rebuilt this past winter. Besides the above parts and a few misc. non-stock hose clamps the car is factory original and matching numbers throughout. The interior is in excellent condition. The car is a strong number 2 survivor level car with only the occasional dab of touch-up paint and minimal sun fading. It has 59,XXX actual miles and has never been in road salt/snow conditions and only occasionally caught out in rain. I might restore it in the future but unless something drastic happens I will keep it as is for now. I don't want to destory any of the originality and I still plan on driving it on sunny weekends to local shows when time permits and trailers are out of the questions. Cars can't do burnouts while strapped to trailers. If you see mine on one it is because it's broke or someone stole it. You guys have a great show and I TiVo it every week. Keep the old Buick GS stuff coming. Thanks. "
